The Technics SL-1210MK5G is a mixers delight. If you're a Dj in the market for a new turntable, look no further than the SL-1210MK5G. Sure, it's expensive, but well worth the price. Aside from a minor gripe about the cover not having hinges (which in my opinion would just be in the way of DJing) the features on this thing are awesome! The direct drive turntable is powered by a high torque engine which makes starts nearly instantaneuos. Pitch control is right on and features a quartz controlled no click slider for smooth transitions. The look of the unit is really cool also. With its black aluminum case and Technics logo on the turntable, you'll be proud to enter the club with this thing under your arm. It also features a heavy rubber base to keep vibrations down to a minimum. Definitely a DJ's delight!
There are a lot of features with this baby, but a the following are a few that stand out to me:
- Total quartz locked continuous pitch adjustment +/-8% and +/-16%
- High torque motor (1.5Kg/cm) provides for quick start-ups (0.07 seconds)
- Extremely sensitive low mass tone-arm
- Adjustable pressure stylus
- Rock solid quartz DD accuracy.
- Wow and flutter 0,01% WRNMS
- Rumble -78dB (DIN B)
- Pitch reset button
- Adjustable stop break
- Durable LED needle light
- Recessed on/off switch to eliminate accidental shutdown
- Removable lid
- Smooth, quartz-locked, nonclick slider controls pitch
In my opinion this is the top turnable in its class. If you're a DJ you can't afford to be without a pair of these. Or if you're just into old vinyl, you will not find a better player than this.
